Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! Did the Easter bunny come to your house this year? It didn't come to mine because 1. We don't have a yard in our town house 2. We have no little kids in our family anymore. They all grew up. That being said, I became the Easter bunny for a little bit with the help of strategically placed eyeliner. Too bad we didn't have any ears.

This actually works out well because my family nickname used to be Sonya Bunny. We're not entirely sure on where it came from, but it stuck. People still call me that to annoy me, but little do they know that I don't mind it.

For dinner we had stuffed chicken, mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, stuffing, and my mom's famous glazed carrots. The secret ingredient is orange peel (shh, don't tell her I told you).

Dessert was homemade cookies.

It was a pretty calm day in my house. It's pretty windy and cold out so we spent the day in our baggy sweatshirts. I'll probably spend the rest of the afternoon doing homework and listening to piano music. Maybe do some painting after that if it doesn't get too late.

Have a great Easter!

Spring NOTD and a Little Bit More

Hey guys! Bubzbeauty on youtube made another nail tutorial again, it's her Perfect Spring Nails video where she teaches how to make daisies on your nails. It's super cute and I thought I would give it a try and show you guys how it turned out.

I found out that I didn't have my white nail polish at my mom's, so my flowers are pink instead. I didn't use a blue nail polish for the background because I didn't want to crowd my nails with a mountain of polish.

The grass is a little messed up because there were no toothpicks to be found anywhere in my house so I used a bamboo skewer.

This really is perfect for spring and I'm so excited for it to come! Even though it's still cold and snowy where I live, this makes me feel like spring is here.

Now onto the other stuff!

Milo was being extra cute today. He usually moves too much to get a picture.

In a dressing room. Hehe :)
Moving into the season with a new hairstyle. How do you like it?

Playing Around with White Eyeliner

White eyeliner has been (kind of?) a trend lately. Well, I've seen it, I don't know about you. They say that it can make your eyes look bigger and brighter. My eyes don't need to be any bigger, they're already huge in my opinion, but they do need some brightening up. My family have these dark bags under our eyes that no amount of concealer can hide. It makes them look tired and sad. Who wants to look tired and sad all the time?

This is my regular eyeliner that I wear every day, it's nothing too fancy. Sometimes I wear less or more, it all depends on how dramatic I feel that day.

As you can see, I still have not gotten an eyebrow pencil yet. You'll have to deal with my blonde eyebrows for a while. I know that some people are very attached to filled in eyebrows. Personally, I don't really care.

The eyeliner I will be using is a pencil liner by Rimmel London. It goes on really smooth and blends very easily, I would recommend it if you want a while eyeliner.

This is with white eyeliner in the waterline and it's how I saw other people use it. I feel like a lot of people can pull this look off, just not me. The pigmentation didn't show up in the camera that much, but you get the gist of it.

I also tried a look with the white eyeliner on the inner corners and in the center of the eyelid and blended it out.
There's not a big difference, but if you pack on the eyeliner and blend it out, it does brighten up your eyes. I've been doing this look for about two weeks and I feel like it's made my eyes just the tiniest more lively.

What did I learn? White eyeliner can give your eyes a little boost. What do you guys think? Have you tried anything with white eyeliner?

Recent Purchases

After another hectic week at school, I did some shopping on Amazon again. It's becoming a problem, you guys. I need to stop going on there. My wish list is getting ridiculous.

Also, my new charger came in the mail, so my laptop is alive again!

You guys probably saw my Product Review- 4 Skin79 BB Creams post and I said that I would but a full sized product soon, and I did. It's the Skin79 BB Cream in the Hot Pink label. The shipping details said that it will be here next week! I was getting worried my samples weren't going to be enough.

The other BB cream I got was the Holika Holika Pore Clearing Petit BB Cream with Tea Tree Oil and Sebum Control Powder. Could that name be any longer? Anyway, I'm always looking for something to keep my greasy face in control.

The last thing is this little leather bracelet. It was less than $4 and had free shipping, so I had to get it. Though I wish I had bought it in black, but I can do that next time. The only sad thing is that it won't arrive for a long time.

That's all I have for you guys. It's just been a very dull week so I don't really have much to give you. Maybe the next post will be more eventful.

How has your week been going?

Product Review- 4 Skin79 BB Creams

I mentioned in my Collective Spring Break Haul that I had bought a sample kit of the Skin79 BB Creams. It comes with the prestige, pearl, gold, and pink labels. And now that I can sneak away to use my dad's computer to upload pictures, you guys get 4 BB Cream reviews in one post.

First of all, let me just tell you how nice this little kit is. It allowed me to see which
BB cream was right for me and my skin. The samples are the perfect size to through in your purse. My own makeup bag got a little bulky with all the full sized bottles hanging out in there.

With all of these BB creams, a little goes a long way. It will give you enough time to figure out which one you like best and wait for a full sized product to be shipped. Since this is a product from Korea, I have to order it online.

Honestly, the formulas are pretty similar. They all even out my skin tone and hides some of my spots. I would say that they are medium-heavy coverage. I still need a concealer but I always need concealer no matter what makeup I use. They come out a little grey but after a while they oxidize to the right color for my skin.

The prestige label does the best at controlling my oil, which instantly makes it my favorite. The sad thing is that it doesn't have any SPF or benefits.

The pearl label has a bit of shimmer to it when it's blended out. I'm not sure I like that for everyday use, but sometimes you just need a little sparkle. I wouldn't buy this full sized, the sample is just right for those few days that I want to use it.

I didn't really see anything that made the gold label stand out compared to the other four. It's pretty basic. It does have SPF, anti-aging, and whitening benefits. If that is something that sounds appealing to you, then I would recommend it. I think that this will be fantastic in the summer months when the sun can be pretty harsh.

The hot pink label is probably the most popular out of all of these. It has the same benefits as the gold label. This is a lot of people's staple BB cream. As you can see, it's a little depleted due to constant use. I have a strong feeling that I will be purchasing this full sized and repurchasing it.

Overall- These BB creams are really light and offer good coverage. My skin has calmed down when it comes to oil since I've been using these. They have replaced my MAC foundation that I has been my holy grail product for months.

Comparing this to Western BB creams, I don't think I will be getting another Western BB cream for a long time. If you've only tried BB creams from America like me before this, get an Asian one. They are so much more better.

Which do you think is better? Western or Asian BB creams?

Book Talk: New Shelves!

Usually instead of spring cleaning, I blast my music and rearrange my bookshelves. Before I had it by genre, now it's ordered by spine color. Overall, it looks fantastic. The bad side, a little harder to find a book, but not by much. My bookshelves are in three different parts because I don't have a full bookshelf. When I moved into my current town home, my uncle built my little brother, sister, and I, a desk and two shelves to go on top. The shelves weren't attached or anything so they just sat on top. Eventually, my book collection had grown so much that they gave their little shelves to me. Two of them are like nightstands which I keep my older sister's old stereo on and my DVD's on and the other is on my desk.

Here's an overview of the shelf on my desk. Now you know when I said it's a shelf instead of a bookcase.

Purple and Blue

Green and Yellows
Can you see the frog? My little sister went a little crazy with color coding all my belongings and shoving them in between my books. So if there's something random wedged in the cracks, it was her.

Yellows continued
This is one the the shelves that act as the nightstand. I also realized that I have a bunch of yellow books because most of them are books about Ancient Egypt. I'm a bit of a history nut. Nonfiction books can get pretty expensive but my family knows were all the cool used book stores are. Gotta love cheap books!
Oranges and Reds
Oops! A little straggler makeup brush sneaked into the picture.
Red Continued and Pinks
I love my little pirate duck.
Blacks
I did have a white section, but I forgot to take a picture of that. Sorry! :( Anyway, I had to put all my books on their side because I was running out of room. I had to get a little creative there. But now I don't have any scary looking stacks on the ground that people can step over.

If you have a full bookshelf, you should definitely try this because it will look even better than mine because you can make a whole rainbow. Mine are spread about the room so it doesn't look as nice. That's okay, I still love them.

What do you think of rainbow bookshelves? How should I arrange them next year?

Collective Spring Break Haul+ Update

I'm sorry I've been MIA lately, it's not by choice, trust me. As you might be able to tell,
I've been on spring break. I didn't really have any plans except a few get-togethers with friends. But then my older sister came home for a surprise visit! She lives on the East coast and I live in the Northern part of the Midwest. So, I've been busy hanging out with her. The other reason is because the adapter to my laptop broke and there's no way I can charge it. My poor laptop has been sitting there dead for days. :( But now I'm on my dad's home computer.

Here's mostly what I got, but there still is more. The best thing was probably the fake leather jacket. I went to the mall with my friends and we found that Vanity had really cheap jackets in the clearance section. This one is cropped the sleeves can be rolled up, and it was only $8!!
And of course, I can't leave the mall without going to Barnes and Noble to get a book. This is actually a book I've already read but did not own. If you are into hard-core fantasy books with wizards and evil spirits, this is the book for you.

This ring is from H&M. I've been into big rings lately but I didn't have a gold one, but now I do.

I ordered this kit of Skin79 BB Creams from Amazon. I've heard that Asian BB Creams are ten times better than the American ones. The price wasn't all that bad either, only $10 with shipping. They are perfect if you want to try the different kinds or if you are traveling.  It comes with the pink, gold, prestige, and pearl diamond labels. You might see a product review on these.

My sisters and I went on a spontaneous trip to the Mall of America to check out the new Forever 21 that has two levels. This ring instantly caught my eye because it kind of looks like what a knight will propose with to his girlfriend. I'm not sure if this is the way to wear it, but that's just what I think looks best.

More nail polish, yay! Also from Forever 21.

Got this in a trip to Walgreens with my mom. My dark spots have been so frustrating. At this point, I'll try anything. Hopefully this will help.

Watercolor pencils have been on my to-buy list for so long but I've never had the time to go to the craft store since the closest one is 30 minutes away. But my sisters and I had just happen to be in that part of town and we decided to go in. After using them for a while, I really do like them and I might think about getting some that are better quality since these are the cheapo version.

So whenever my older sister is in town, all the sisters (there are three of us) go out for sushi. My younger sister is a little shy at eating new sea foods, so we could only get the safe sushi like the shrimp tempura and the cucumber avocado.

Got some chicken hibachi

Chicken wings

And fried tofu.

We did have Japanese onion soup too, but I didn't get a picture of that.

My friends should have never shown my Korean dramas, because I get addicted. My new show that I've been watching is Heartstrings.

After my sister left, I did get some time to relax and just lounge around the house. That sadly ended when I dropped a bottle onto my foot and broke my toe the day before I had to go back to school. My pain tolerance is pretty high so it doesn't hurt much, but it's still a huge inconvenience. Despite all that, it was a pretty good spring break.

Product Review: Organix Biotin and Collagen Shampoo and Conditioner

Usually, the kind of shampoo I use has no effect on my hair since it just falls flat a while after I blow dry it. Anything from the brand Organix always catches my eye for some reason but I've never had the chance to try it until now. I got the biotin and collagen shampoo and conditioner because it claims to make your hair look more thicker, fuller, and have more volume. My hair is baby fine and I've always had a struggle to make it look more alive and fuller.

I first got the conditioner at my local grocery store. Don't you just hate it when you run out of conditioner before you run out of shampoo? Anyways, I was only using that for a while and I did see improvements in my hair. It was fuller, softer, and more luscious.

After being so pleased with the conditioner, I went ahead and bought the shampoo. I've been using both for a while and now I feel like I can now write an honest review.

Packaging-  The bottle is pretty small compared to the other hair care products out there. It's probably the worst thing about this product. I just feel like I'm paying more for less.
Price- These were about $8 each, which is a lot compared to my past shampoo which was only about $3 or $4 (I didn't really take care of my hair).
Effectiveness- These have been making my hair soo soft! After a while, I was walking up to my friends and saying "Feel my head". Usually, I have people walk up to me and ask to feel my hair because it's blonde, I have no clue why, I just do. Now when they say it's soft, I can actually believe them. This didn't add a lot of volume to my hair, but I did notice long lasting volume. My hair will look like I just blow dried it for most of the day, or at least when I get home from school and put it up into a pony tail or braid.
Overall- Great product. If I get more Organix products and they work just as well, I might be addicted. I saw that they have a deep conditioner and their cherry blossom shampoo smells absolutely divine. So those might be my next purchases.

Book Review: Beauty by Robin Mckinley

Title: Beauty
Author: Robin McKinley
Published by: HarperCollins Publishers
325 pages

Beauty thinks her nickname doesn't fit her at all. She's short, gangling, and awkward. Her father is a merchant, but when his ships come up missing, he is lost of most of his revenue. Fleeting to a cheaper lifestyle, Beauty, her father and two older sisters move to a rural village away from the city. There Beauty's father has an encounter with a horrible beast and tells him he must give up his own life, or send one of his daughters to go and live with him in his castle.

Recently, I've been wanting to revisit the fairy tales I grew up with. One of my most beloved stories is Beauty and the Beast. To tell you the truth, I've already read this book. Second time going through, and I wasn't as amazed as I was last time.

Having read more fantasy books than when I first read this, I feel like I'm more educated in what makes up a good fantasy story. What bugs me in this book is the mention of Greek philosophers,  poets, mythology. Usually, fantasy books avoid anything that has to do with our world because the book is in a different one. I wasn't sure if this book took place on Earth, or some made up land that is filled with magic and curses. There was no way I would have noticed that last time.

What I do like about this book is that it tells more about the back story behind Beauty and her family. It's not rushed to get to the good part where the Beast and romance comes in. It's a slow process which makes it more believable. Though I did find it slow in some points. I kind of wanted it to pick up the pace a little bit so it would keep my attention.

I have always admired Robin McKinley's writing. It's very elegant and paints a really nice picture without taking away from the plot. I hate it when there's so much description that you forget what's going on. That's no problem with this book.

I absolutely adore the ending of this book. It's probably what propelled me to reread this book. When I finished, a smile was plastered on my face for hours. It was just so adorable!

What's your favorite fairy tale?
