What's In My Travel Makeup Bag + Cabin Fun!

Hey cuties! I think I've mentioned before that I kind of like these "what's in my bag" posts because I'm a little nosy. I'll admit it. So I wanted to do this post where I stuffed all of my makeup and skincare into one small bag. I hope you guys like long posts, because this is one of those posts. There's also pictures and information about my cabin trip at the end!

P.S. I forgot to include my face primer, but I definitely brought that along with.

Being a beauty blogger, this was hard picking only the essentials to bring. Especially for me because I'm one who tends to over pack. Does anyone else have that problem?

1. Kiehl's Superbly Efficient Antiperspirant Deodorant Cream- Deodorant, not much to say. It was 90 degrees out the whole time we were at the cabin.
2. Cetaphil Moisturizer in an Etude House Moistful Cream Sample- I pumped some of my Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion into the empty Etude House sample because it has SPF 30 and I didn't want to bring the whole bottle.
3. Biotera Long and Healthy Shampoo- Got this at Sally's in the discount section.

 1. Covergirl Eyebrow Pencil- My eyebrows are transparent because they're blonde. I need to fill them in.
2. Up & Up Eyeliner Brush- A cheap brush I used for my eyebrows. It's not so good for liner.
3. Mystery Eyebrow Powder From Sally's- I don't know the brand of this powder, but it has two shades and I use it to darken my eyebrows in some parts with the liner brush.
4. Sally Girl Eyeshadow- For my brow bone and inner corners.
5. Loreal Eyeliner Brush- Came with the gel eyeliner
6. Loreal Gel Liner in Brown- This is great for tight-lining your upper lash line for the allusion of fuller lashes.
7. Sonia Kashuk Spooly Brush- To blend out eyebrows.
8. NYC Liquid Eyeliner- This is actually a really good liner for the price. If you're in a pinch, I suggest getting this.

1. Holika Holika Petit BB Cream- Don't think this needs an explanation. Review here
2. Rimmel London Match Perfection Concealer 125 Fair- My favorite drugstore concealer.
3. Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara- To set my brows.
4. Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya- Review here
5. Maybelline Fit Me Bronzer in Medium Bronze- Not a good bronzer, but it's the only one I own right now.

1. Maybelline Mega Plush Volume Express Mascara- Gotta have mascara!
2, Nevia Lip Butter- Review here
3, Innisfree No-Sebum Mineral Pact- Review coming soon
4. Palladio Rice Paper Blotting Sheets- If you're an oily girl, blotting sheets are a must.
5. Epiduo Sample- My prescription acne medication.
6. Makeup Sponge- To blend BB cream
7. Calvin Kein Perfume- So I don't stink.

Here's a sneak peek into my cabin weekend!

So, I went up with only my sisters and we got to hang out in the cabin that we share with my (very large) extended family. My great uncle actually built it and we've been coming back for generations. Because we are very Finnish, we have a lot of traditions like going into the sauna (yep, Uncle Wayne had to build a sauna), playing Finnish card games, we even have Finnish sayings plastered all over our walls. Some of my family members speak Finnish, but I can't so I don't know what it says.

Anyway, here's the view from the dock. Like I said before, it was 90 degrees or higher the entire time we were up there so we hung out in our swim suites most of the time because we were going to end up jumping in the lake sooner or later. It was fun because I got a little bit of sun and I didn't have to wear pants the whole time! It was too hot for pants anyway.

I thought this was cute. My uncle always used to tell us stories about the trolls that lived on the island, but they always changed every year. Do you see my reflection in the window? That is probably the only appearance I will make in this post because I didn't have any makeup on and I didn't do my hair for two days. Who needs to look pretty at the cabin?

My favorite part was probably taking the canoe out onto the lake and there's this one part where it's almost all lily pads. The first time we went out, the blossoms were already closed up for the night. So we went out the next morning so I could get some pictures. They were soo pretty!

In the far left part of this picture, you can see a little bit of green on top of the lake, those were the lily pads. This was also taken from our dock.

You can never have enough pictures of the lake at sunset. We actually had to take the canoe out again to paddle around the island that was blocking the view. But it was totally worth it because I got a ton of pictures and the water was so calm because the wind died down and it was before all the night fishermen came out.

My sister and I both agreed that the tip of the canoe was a nice touch.

I have more pictures, but I thought that this post was long enough. The pictures of the makeup and skincare products were taken at my house because I knew I wasn't going to have enough time to take pictures at the cabin. We only stayed there for about two days but we got a lot done in that time frame.

Let me know how you liked this post! Do you prefer a beach or a lake getaway? I'm from Minnesota (A.K.A. The Land of 10,000 Lakes, but we have a lot more than 10,000) so I can't have a beach getaway. Or at least at this moment I can't. ;) See you next time!

Update: Minnesota and South Dakota Adventures Part 2

Hello cuties! My brain is now working since I got some sleep in my own bed, opposed to an old mattress in a cabin. Traveling is really fun but there's nothing like home. These photos were stolen from my Dad. He was a really nice Nikon and I have my crappy one. :( The pictures in Part 1 were taken by me.

Going to Mt. Rushmore is probably the most patriotic thing I have ever done. It's amazing in how much detail is in that thing. They included part of George Washington's clothes and Teddy Roosevelt's glasses. We got to learn all about it in a movie they played. The whole time I was picturing The Lion King because the narrator was to voice of Mufasa.

There's little ole me. We went there later in the day because we heard they put on a light show at night. It gets dark in South Dakota really quickly so that's why it's still light in this picture. I had extra time to get ready that morning so I did my hair in deep waves. And hopefully this is the last picture you will see me with my extremely white skin! Being out in the sun during this trip helped me out with getting a tan and I'm about one and a half shade darker (maybe two?)

My little sister is obsessed with anything with scales, she already owns two geckos that live in tanks. The Reptile Gardens was her favorite stop. They had a lot of demonstrations (we watched the one on how to wrestle a gator) and there was this greenhouse-type-thing that you could walk around with lizards and tropical birds that roamed free.

The rest of the time was spent shopping in tourist traps. I got some sweat pants, a Mt. Rushmore tank top, and a necklace with a crystal on it. There are a lot of attractions that revolve around the Wild West. I wouldn't think that South Dakota held a lot of cowboys, but I guess I was wrong. We went to a 1880's themed town where we got to see actual prop from the movie Dances With Wolves. There is also a place called Wall Drug, which is like a whole town dedicated to the Wild West. There were literally hundreds of signs for it, like one every half mile. My favorite one said Free Ice Water on it. Okay, that will make me stop. Free water. . .

Well, I think that this is the end of my road trip spree for a while. I didn't expect it to be as pretty as it was. If you do get a chance to go, I would suggest it. But maybe not the little-know cafe's. We didn't have much luck at getting good food. I would say stick to the major chain restaurants. Anyway, see you guys later! Maybe I'll have a review up soon?

Update: Minnesota and South Dakota Adventures Part 1

Hello cuties! I feel so bad that I neglected posting for a while. Maybe this post will clear some things up. I went to South Dakota with my family and there wasn't wifi where I could update regularly. Since there's nothing beauty related, I thought you would like some pictures.

Minnesota

My friend and I went on a few hikes in our local county park and it was so picturesque that I had to take my camera with me. It's still rainy and stormy here so it makes everything all mossy and really green.

South Dakota

On to South Dakota! Our first stop that was actually blog-worthy was the Bad Lands. Now that I have been to some sort of desert twice (I went to Palm Springs a few years ago) I've realized that I prefer desert to forest. My dad disagrees with me, but how can you not like it? It was so pretty!

My descriptions aren't the best right now because I'm a little brain dead after the 13 hour drive back. I wrote this post as soon as I got home because I felt bad about leaving you guys for a while. :( Hopefully, I won't disappear again.

Sorry I'm a bad boy ;)

Hello cuties! Sorry I haven't posted in a while! My family is planning a lot of road trips lately so there isn't much time to try out new products and blog about them. But, I just got home from a four hour drive (hence why I'm only wearing jeans and a t-shirt) and found a package at my doorstep. It turned out to be the hat I ordered from Amazon! Do you recognize it?

If you guys read my Liebster Awards, then you'd know that I love Big Bang and this hat is a replica of the one that G-Dragon wore in the Bad Boy music video. Bad Boy and Fantastic Baby are the songs that originally got me into kpop. I remember freaking out about my driver's test and the only thing that could calm my nerves were those two songs. And you know what, I passed on the first try!

This could not have come at a more convenient time. My hair is in an awkward stage right now and it really needs to be cut. Plus, when I nap in the car, it looks a little flat on the side I was sleeping on. There's nothing a hat can't fix!

Speaking of kpop, have you guys seen the dance version of Wonder Boyz song Tarzan? I'm addicted to it! I wasn't amazed by the drama version, but the dance version got me hooked. I know Martina from Eat Your Kimchi loves it, too and I trust her judgement. ;)

If you guys want to know where to get it, the link is here. What do you think? See you later! XD

Blogilates Transform Your Body in June!

Hello everyone! I get out of school next week and I wanted to jump into summer with a fresh new start after the school year. Also, I would like to look fantastic in a swim suit, I'm not gonna lie. That's why I am going to be doing the Blogilates Transform Your Body in June Challenge. Basically, it's a challenge to loose 4% percent of your total body weight in the month of June. The weigh in is this Saturday! So if you want to join me, decide soon! I've been doing Cassey's (the Blogilates instructor) workouts for about a month now and they really do work! They are really fun in a torturous kind of way. :P She has a variety of videos that target specific body parts that include many different moves and time lengths.

My goal is to have legs like a kpop star! (This is Miss A btw)

I just want to feel more comfortable in the clothes I'm wearing in the summer time. I don't want to worry if my thighs look chunky in shorts or whether or not I can wear a bikini to the beach. Another reason is because I would like to be healthier. My house is filled with junk food and it's been making me feel gross lately. I'm the only one in my family that really watches what they put into their body so I might get a little out numbered when it comes to what we are going to eat for dinner. Since Cassey makes clean-eating recipes, too, I can eat food that has nutrition and actually tastes good!

If you are looking to get healthier and loose a bit of weight, come join me! Let's do this together! On Cassey's website, you can actually bet money here which might give you a little motivation. I, personally, am looking forward to how I handle pushing myself to stick to my goal and achieving it.

Family Camping Trip

Hello everyone! Yesterday I got home from a family camping trip with my dad, his girlfriend, her grandson, and my siblings and I. That all added up to six people in one RV. I know, staying in an RV doesn't really count as camping, but my dad wanted one really badly. Honestly, hiking up a tent and sleeping in there is so much better because RV campsites are basically trailer parks. But that didn't stop me from trying to have some fun!

We went to a national park to go hiking by the river, and these were some stairs leading down to the bank. You can really tell that we've had a pretty brutal winter, the grass is still fighting to grow.

We always have a tradition to go to Tobies Bakery for some snacks. Their caramel rolls are absolutely amazing and I think I've gained a pound just being in their store. (They give away free samples, too! They are trying to make me gain weight!)

Here's what we all got. Mine was the one with nuts on top. My poor brother's sugar donut got a little deflated.

My sister and I each got these little mice that are actually chocolate covered cherries!

Did you guys know they had these? They're flat marshmallows to make the perfect s'more!

Totoro Cookies!

Hello everyone! I haven't been feeling all too well with spring cold season going crazy over here, so I decided to make some Totoro cookies to cheer me up a bit. My Neighbor Totoro is one of my all-time favorite movies and I thought that this was such a cute idea. The original tutorial is here. This was not my creation, but I did change it up a bit to accommodate what I already had in my kitchen.

The finished product.

Instead of gingerbread like in the tutorial, I used sugar cookie mix because they were having a sale and I just used black food coloring to make it a "totoro grey". Make sure that if you do this, keep a mental note that it will get lighter after you bake it.

I like to mix it manually because it gives my arms a workout!

Sorry I didn't document every step for you guys, but if you want to know, then just watch the video that I linked to. You can blame my cold for making me tired and forget to take pictures.

For the icing, I used a trick that my friend's mom taught me. Take a bowl of powdered sugar, add a tiny bit of vanilla (or any other flavoring you want), water, and food coloring and mix it all together. There's not really any exact measurements for it since my friend's family never really uses them anyway, so just start slow and you can always add more if you need it.

P.S. The water goes a long way in the powdered sugar so you don't need that much.

The icing dried before I could put the sprinkles on the soot sprite. I kinda had to press them on there.

Whenever I bake, I make a huge mess on all the tables and counters. Honestly, I showed you the only cookies that were fully decorated. The rest I gave up on because I was just so sick of cooking that I had to walk away. It's okay, they'll still get eaten in my house full of cookie monsters.

I don't know if it's because my taste buds changed because of my health kick or my cold, but I could only eat a few cookies before it got way too sweet and had to switch to fruit. It might also be the fact that I drenched them in frosting, too. We all learn from mistakes.

What do you guys do while you're sick?

What's In My Bag

Hello everyone! I don't like being away from blogging, but it's state testing time. I have to pass them in order to graduate, so it's pretty important. Anyway, I thought I would do an easy post that all nosy people like to see, a What's In My Bag post! To be honest, I'm pretty nosy, too, and like seeing what people carry around with them. You guys an inside look of what my purse looks like after school, traveling between parents' houses, and many people going through it.

This is just an overview on all the things, closer pictures are below.

I'm a makeup hoarder when it comes to my purse! Sometimes when I need to focus on school work, I'll go to my mom's for the day when I'm supposed to be at my dad's and vice versa. This just makes it easier when I accidently sleep over and there's school the next day.

1. Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eyeliner- My favorite liquid eyeliner
2. Revlon Age Defying Concealer- I use this on acne scars, they need some extra coverage.
3. Covergirl Concealer- The label on this worn off so I can't tell you which kind, but this is really light and doesn't crease under my eyes.
4. Maybelline New York Superstay Color Lip Stain in Reliable Raspberry- Lip stains are a lazy girl's best friend.
5. Maybelline New York Mega Plush Mascara- The only mascara I have right now.
6. Skin79 BB Cream Hot Pink Label- Already raved about the Skin79 BB Creams, but this is the only full sized product I have so far by them.
7. MAC Studio Fix Pressed Powder- Also a little worn down, I need to repurchase this soon.

1. Wallet- Got this floral wallet from Target. I know it's not some fancy, expensive designer, but it still works!
2. Pens and Mechanical Pencils- For school and such.
3. Comb- This poor comb has been through a lot in the past few years. If I don't brush my hair every once in awhile, it'll get stringy.

1. Orbit Wintermint Gum- Gum is like currency at school.
2. Secret Clinical Strength Deodorant- You don't want to be caught without deodorant when you need it.
3. Calvin Klein Perfume- Stole this from my mom. It has a very simple, clean scent.
4. Peppermint candies- Everyone brings these when it's testing day, something about improving scores. I bummed these from a friend. XD

1. Archer Farms Strawberry Mango Real Fruit Twists- These are sort of like an organic (maybe?) fruit snack. I'm addicted to my healthy snacks, this one has a full serving of fruit in this tiny bag!
2. Protector Against the Evil Eye Pendant- My uncle got me this good luck charm in Jerusalem  I carry it around with me so I won't get in a car crash. So far it works!
3. Pirate Rubber Duck- A surprise left by my little sister.
4. Phone- Yes, I have a tiny phone. It's about the size of my palm.

There you go, that's everything I lug around. You'd be shocked on how much stuff I can jam into my little purse. See you next time!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! Did the Easter bunny come to your house this year? It didn't come to mine because 1. We don't have a yard in our town house 2. We have no little kids in our family anymore. They all grew up. That being said, I became the Easter bunny for a little bit with the help of strategically placed eyeliner. Too bad we didn't have any ears.

This actually works out well because my family nickname used to be Sonya Bunny. We're not entirely sure on where it came from, but it stuck. People still call me that to annoy me, but little do they know that I don't mind it.

For dinner we had stuffed chicken, mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, stuffing, and my mom's famous glazed carrots. The secret ingredient is orange peel (shh, don't tell her I told you).

Dessert was homemade cookies.

It was a pretty calm day in my house. It's pretty windy and cold out so we spent the day in our baggy sweatshirts. I'll probably spend the rest of the afternoon doing homework and listening to piano music. Maybe do some painting after that if it doesn't get too late.

Have a great Easter!
